Hilda Joyce Hubbard Bristow, beloved mother, grandmother, treasured sister and true friend and mentor to many, went to be with the Lord on Friday evening, Nov. 26, 2010. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday in Arlington Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Arlington Funeral Home. Hilda was born on her family's farm in Jones County on April 29, 1928, to Viva Blanche Young Hubbard and Travis J. Hubbard. She married William D. Bristow in 1946 in Hamlin. They had two sons and a daughter. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been among the great joys of her life over the years. She lived by the philosophy "learn to love yourself, your family and others," and has passed this on to her loving family. Her Christian faith and past church involvement have been an integral part of her life. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bille Ruth Atwood, in 1995; and a brother, Charles Sterling Hubbard, in 2009. Survivors: Sisters, Martha Valree Clayton and Mary Jo Condra; sons, Phillip Jerome Bristow and David Travis Bristow; daughter, Karen Denise Fate; grandchildren, Jenna Lee Bristow, Brandon Jerome Bristow, Jonathan Scott Bristow and Emily Joyce Ramler; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
