STEPHEN(STEVE)MONTROVTT BEASON, sixth child of Ephraim(Eaph)David and Adenia Beason, was born November 17, 1890 at Pacific Junction, Iowa. His parents moved to Peru, Nebraska the next year where his Grandfather Joseph Beason, who was living with them, died in 1891. The family moved to Julian, Nebraska in 1892; and Steve's sister Betty was born there September 2 that year. A year later, they moved to Langdon, Missouri. His sister Jessie was born there July 2, 1895. Later that summer, the family moved by covered wagon to WaKeeney, Kansas where his mother's parents lived. His brother Mace was born there on the Morgan farm in 1897. They moved from WaKeeney to Wichita in the fall of 1898. His brother, Harry, was born there November 14, 1899 and died there November 15, 1900. Early in 1901, the family moved to Greenwich and on to Benton. Steve's
father preached and blacksmithed in these towns. They moved back to WaKeeney in 1905, There, Steve finished grade and high school. He attended Kansas University at Lawrence, Fort Hays State College at Hays, and Dague Business College at Wichita. He taught in the rural and grade schools of Trego and Gave Counties ten years and was County Superintendent of Schools in Gave County for eight years. He was a member of the armed services in the first World War. After base training in the 149th Infantry Brigade, he was transfer¬red to the 69th Machine Gun Company, and from there to the Trade Test Section of the Per
sonnel Department of Camp Headquarters Company at Camp Funston. His duty there was to give examinations to soldiers who applied for some specialized line of work in the ser¬vice. He farmed and handled livestock for 12 years. Six of these 12 years, he taught school and farmed. He still owns a half section of land in Gove County, Kansas. The Depression and the dust storms caused him to leave the farm in 1932.
His marriage to Mildred Euphemia Cass was a culmination of"love at first sight" that had lasted seven years. Mildred was the daughter of Emery and Helen Cass who lived on a ranch northeast of Co3.lyer, Kansas where Emery homesteaded in 1878. Mildred grew up on the farm, finished high school at WaKeeney and went to college at Lawrence, Man-hattan and Hays City all in Kansas. She taught school several years in Kansas and California. Her birth date was May 26, 1895.
Steve and Mildred moved to San Diego, California in 1942 where both. worked at Convair during World War 11. After the war was over, Steve carpentered for a while; and Mildred taught school. In July, 1946, he joined the sales force of Stanley Home Products, Inc. The following November, he was promoted to Unit Manager. April 1, 1951, he advan¬ced to the position of San Diego Branch Branch Manager for Stanley, which position he held until January 3, 1963 when he retired. Mildred did sales work for the company for 14 years. Of that time, she was Unit Manager for 11 years. She retired in May, 1961.

They purchased a home in San Diego in 1946. Since their retirement, they have done much traveling while gathering information for this family history.
Six children were born to them. All grew to maturity, married, and have established homes of their own.
