Maxine Burkett Allen, 92, of Norman died Sunday, October 28, 2007, at Grace Living Center in Norman. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Interment will be at the Lexington Cemetery. Officiating will be her nephew, Dr. Michael Thomas.
She was born October 8, 1915, in Lexington to Roy and Ollie M. Wilhite Burkett. She graduated from Lexington schools in 1933, and later received a degree in business management and accounting in Oklahoma City. She moved to Los Angeles in the late 1930s, and she married Harry Allen. He preceded her in death in 1964, and in 1975 she moved back to Norman. She belonged to several travel clubs including the AARP and the Banc First Ladies.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, sister Helen Luttrell and brothers Bob and Thurman Burkett. She is survived by her brother B. Lloyd Burkett of Norman and many nieces and nephews.
