US Congressman. Born into a political family, Jackson was educated in public school, studied law and set up his law practice in his hometown of Savannah after being admitted to the bar. He following his father, Gov. James Jackson, and brother, Congressman Jabez Young Jackson, into state and national positions serving in both the Georgia House of Representative and Georgia Senate before being appointed to the United States House of Representatives upon the resignation of Congressman Thomas Butler King. He was elected and served one term as a member the Thirty-second Congress. He did not stand for re-election, returning instead to Savannah to served as a justice of the superior court of Georgia.
