Daughter of William Henry Perdue (1868–1912) and Ada Adelia Perryman (1870–1941).

She was born 16 September 1897 in Sash, Fannin County, Texas per her application for Social Security Account Number dated 18 June 1957. She does not list a middle name for herself. (Family tradition says that her name is Viola Ann Perdue, I have found no record that includes Ann as her middle name.)
The 1900 U. S. Federal Census for Justice Precinct 3, Lamar County, Texas, lists her birthdate as February 1897.

She married Thomas Bynum on 1 Jan 1913 in Fannin County, Texas. The marriage document lists the groom's name as Tom Bynum and the bride's name as Viola Perdue.
