Final rites for Mrs. Emma LaFontaine were held Tuesday afternoon at the Congregational Church in Bagley with Rev. Spencer Bower officiating and the Cease Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Interment was made in the Bagley Cemetery. Pallbearers included her sons.
Mrs. LaFontaine passed away at the Clearwater Hospital last Friday at 4 p.m. at the age of 80 years. She had beein in ill health for the past several years.
Mrs. Emma Thayer LaFontaine was born June 8th, 1865, in New York. When she was six years old her parents came to Browns Valley, Minnesota, where she grew to young womanhood.
In 1894 she was united in marriage to Philip LaFontaine, after which they made their home for several years at Clearwater Lake. Later they made their home in the Bagley vicinity. Mr. LaFontaine passed away january 31, 1938.
Left to mourn her death are eight sons and one daughter. They ae: Felix and Alec of Beidji, George of Duluth, Robert of Solway, Floyd of Shevlin, Mark and Julia (Mrs. Sever Nelson) of Bagley, Frank Bailey of Pinewood, and Henry Bailey of California. Julius Thayer, a nephew she raised from infancy, also survive as do two sisters, Mrs. mae Nevis and Mrs. William Hood, both of California, and four brothers, Sam of Fosston, Charles and Mark of Bagley and George of Clearwater Lake.
Preceding her i death were her first husband, Mr. Bailey, three sons, who died in infancy, two brothers and three sisters.
