Stellina Caldwell, 69

Stellina Caldwell, 69, of New Port Richey, Florida, formerly of Iowa City, died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, and following cremation, her ashes will be put to rest in the family crypt in the city of her birth.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Charles W. Caldwell, of New Port Richey, Florida; a son, Benjamin P. Caldwell, of Stevenson's Ranch, California; two daughters, Luisa (Robert Hickman) Caldwell, of Brooklyn, New York, and Guendalina (Anthony) Joseph, of Rancho Cucamonga, California; two grandsons, Dylan and Caleb, and three granddaughters, Melina, Chloe, and Jurnee. She is also survived by three brothers, Otto, Rudolfo, and Roberto, of Bassano del Grappa, Italy, and two sisters, Marissa Bianco of Udine, Italy, and Ida Straley of Mount Holly, New Jersey, as well as their spouses and children.

The Caldwells moved to Iowa City in 1968 where Charles was coordinator of the Iowa Regional Medical Program and assistant professor in the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. Stellina worked at Things and Things and Things from 1971 to 1975. The Caldwell family lived in Iowa City until 1976 when they moved to Charleston, West Virginia, and later to Florida in 1993.

Stellina was a loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
