Although Bill lived in town until he married, he was a true country guy. He chopped wood, he taught Carol how to milk a goat, at one time he drove a Jeep. His family was everything to him, and he would help anyone.

He loved his 1986 Kawasaki, rebuilding it every spring. Bill's favorite movie was 2001. He told me all about it on our first date. I never liked it, or even understood it. And oddly enough he died in 2001.

He also enjoyed Star Trek and Star Wars. Mr. Spock was his hero.

His favorite band was Credence Clearwater Revival. He used to love listening to the long version of "Running through the Jungle."

He leaves to mourn his premature death his wife Carol Alspaugh Schleich and his children William Paul and Amanda.

He always wanted a pet when he was growing up and after he was married, he had many rescued dogs and cats living with him & his family.

A Navy veteran (1966 - 1969) he toured VietNam twice, but he hardly ever talked about it.

He helped his mother-in-law around the house and kept up her car for her. He chopped wood so that she could heat her house. He was gentle and kind and understanding to her, and I hope and pray that now that she too is beyond the grave that he is still taking care of her.

He loved his job as a motor winder and worked for twenty-seven years at Mid-Ohio Electric, Columbus. He never missed a day of work - he worked the day he died.

Minutes before he died, he went outside and looked for the space shuttle. He and Carol talked about the September 11th "God" song. He carried in the groceries, sat in his chair, and died of a massive heart attack.

His family will miss and mourn him forever. His funeral was at St. Mary's Church (where he grew up) on Christmas Eve.
Every year at Christmas time, Bill made my mother old-fashioned cocoa fudge because he knew she loved it and she would be the first person to admit she was no Martha Stewart (and neither am I!)

Bill wanted grandchildren, and looked forward to them, and now he is a Grandpa of two boys.

There are two things that can be learned from his untimely death: Carol took Bill for granted, and Bill did not take care of his health. He was a heavy smoker (although he never smoked at home because he wanted to protect his family or more likely didn't want to hear Carol gripe about it) and he didn't get adequate rest.

Through many changes, toils and snares
We have already come
'Twas Grace that brought us safe thus far,
and Grace will lead us home.

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.

A Poem by James
God Chose Him From The Best Ones,
And Saved Him Just For Thee...
A Kind And Gentle Husband,
As Sweet As He Could Be.

You Had Hoped That You Would Get One,
Who'd Give You Love And Care...
And Anytime You Needed Him ,
You'd Find Him Always There.

You Wanted One Who'd Love You,
Whether It's Deserved Or Not...
And When God Gave You BILL ,
Thats Exactly What You Got.

James

Revelations 21:4 - And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Please note: Bill has made his presence made throughout the past five years so I have faith his soul survived and triumphed over death.
