Milo, OK — He departed this life Friday, November 19, 2010, one week before his 100th birthday. Funeral services for Walter (Jack) McGee will be Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Jehovah Baptist Church in Milo with interment to follow in Cobb Cemetery. Rev. Ricky McGee will officiate and Pastor Theodore Anderson will give the Eulogy. Mr. McGee was born in the Milo Community November 25, 1910, to Lawrence Florence and Areabelle Williams McGee. He departed this mortal life at Baptist Integris Hospital in Oklahoma City, Friday, November 19, 2010.
Mr. McGee united with Calvary Baptist Church in Gene Autry years ago. He grew up in the Milo Community and attended Cobb School. He was employed by Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement. He married the former Inez Wilson in 1936. She and a baby girl died during childbirth in June 1949. The responsibility of raising five sons descended upon Mr. McGee. Throughout his life, he was a great father to his children. He loved fishing and hunting, was a top-notch gardener and produced lovely vegetables and flowers. Additionally, he was a wonderful cook. He lived life to the fullest. Dancing was his favorite pastime.
He is preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings, Jesse McGee, Ernest McGee, Floyd McGee, Izora Colbert, Laura Cohee, Callie Mae Simpson and Arlene Charles; an infant baby girl; and three sons, Arthur Gene, Shirley Wayne and Walter McGee Jr.
He leaves to forever cherish his memories two sons, Alvin McGee, Springer, and Herman McGee, Oklahoma City; three sisters, Martha Poteet, Bessie Swan and Erma Jean White; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; daughters-in-law; brothers-in-law; other relatives; and numerous friends.
Pallbearers are nephews, Donnell Poteet, Travis Cohee, Wayne McGee, Floyd McGee Jr., Darrell Swan, Albert Swan Jr., and Lawrence McGee.
