Obituary: "Garland Franklin Adams , 88, of Huntington (TX) died on Monday, July 19, 1996. He was born in Hopkins Co., TX to the late Albert and Emma (Phillips) Adams . Mr. Adams was a retired teacher, and had taught in the Huntington area schools for 35 years. He obtained his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University. Mr. Adams was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church. A resident of Huntington most of his life, he had also lived in Alabama Creek, Orange and Emory.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Garleatha and Ralph Nerren of Huntington; sisters, Lola Adams of Lufkin and Mildred Warhol of Houston; granddaughter and husband Michelle and Tony Ellington of Huntington; grandsons and wives, Adam and Jannah Nerren of Huntington and Chad and Cindy Nerren of Lufkin; great grandchildren, April, Molly, Garrett, Claire and Logan; sister-in-law, Ollie Durham of Huntington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Lee Runnels Adams on March 31, 1993.
