Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of William Carroll & Emily T. (Fitzhugh) Byrd.

In 1860 Mary & her parents were in Big Creek Township, Hot Spring County, Arkansas.

In 1870 Mary & her parents were in District 09, Hardin County, Tennessee near the Savannah Post Office.

Mary Elizabeth married William James Aday aft June 2, 1880 & before Nov. 13, 1880, as this is the day their 1st daughter was born. This is based on the 1880 Census of William as he stated that he was single the day the census was taken.

Mary & William had 3 children; Cordia Easter, Arthur Sherman, & Myrtle Agnes Aday.
