Quad City Times, Sat. Apr. 27, 1991, p. 3B. Services for Mavin “Pete” Petre, 71, of 1522 S. Fairmount St., will be 1 p.m. Monday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday. He died Thursday at Mercy Hospital. He retired in 1983 as a truck driver for Carstensen Freight, Rock Island. Mr. Petre married Myrtle Pierce in 1942 in Kohoka MO. She died in 1983. During World War II, he served in the army. His memberships included Teamsters and Chauffeurs Local 371, American Association of Retired Persons and Plus 60 Club. He was a former member of Independent Order of Foresters. Memorials may be made to Mercy Continuing Care. Survivors include a son, Marvin Jr., Davenport; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A [step-son], Franklin Ogden, preceded him in death.
