Funeral services was held Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Dorothy Mable Allen, age 89, the former Dorothy Mable Schmidt, who passed away Sunday, November 19, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. Pastor Jim Allen will officiate at the services.
Ms. Allen was a native of Kansas, a resident of Breaux Bridge, LA, having lived most of her adult life in Houston, TX. She was a member of Covenant Christian Fellowship of Lafayette. She was employed as a medical assistant for over 25 years with Dr. Debakey, Heart Doctor in Houston, TX.
Survivors include two sons, Pastor Jim Leo Allen and his wife, Judy, of Breaux Bridge, LA and Dr. John Warner Allen, M.D. and his wife, Tedi, of San Diego, CA; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and seven great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.Leo Allen; her parents, Albert Schmidt and the former Mable Warner; two brothers, Clarence Schmidt and Louis Schmidt and two sisters, Rita Oetting and Eva Edgell.
