Services for John E. Cornett, 87, of Lubbock will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov 19, 2010 in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven. Mr. Cornett passed away on Tuesday, Nov 16th.

John was born on Sept 25, 1923 in Three Sands, Oklahoma. He graduated from Pampa High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Vera Sackett on May 2, 1946 in LeFors, TX. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2003. He retired as a senior administrator with Exxon Oil in 1981. He was a Baptist and a Mason.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Kay in 1949; his parents, John and Bessie Prichard; a brother, Jim Cornett and sister, Edna Call; a grandson, Dr. Ronnie Lee Jackson.

Survivors include a daughter, Johnnye Sue Herald of Lubbock; one son, Bo Cornett, and wife Sherri, of Lubbock; one sister, Alma Teeters of Edmond, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Brenda Herald Rowan of Olton, Tiffany and husband Jason Weddel of Lantana, TX and Mike Herald of Lubbock; five great-grandchildren, Ashlee Jackson, Zach Rowan, Campbell, Henley and Charlie Weddel; and his faithful boxer, "Dutchess".
