Leota May Shernaman Ahring, 80, of Warrensburg died Monday, March 26, 2007, at Strafford Care Center in Strafford.

She was born Feb. 8, 1927, north of Montserrat to Lathe and Jewell (Simons) Curnutt.

On June 24, 1944, she married Roy A. Shernaman, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her parents; stepdad, Karl K. Swisher; and a brother, Estel Lee Curnutt.

On May 6, 1994, she married James Roger Ahring, who survives.

She was a homemaker and helped on the farm.

She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Knob Noster.

Survivors include a daughter, Paulette Moore and her husband, Stan, of Lebanon; a son, Allen Leroy Shernaman and his wife, Jo, of Columbia; a sister, Jane Everts, of Knob Noster; four grandchildren, Paula and Michael Moore, Allen Christopher Shernaman and Ryan Shernaman and wife, Brianna; two stepsons, five step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives.

Services for Leota May Shernaman Ahring will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007, at the First Christian Church of Knob Noster with the Rev. David Jordan officiating.

Burial will be in the Knob Noster Cemetery, under the direction of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home and Crematory of Warrensburg.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wedneday at the Moore Funeral Home in La Monte, Mo.

Memorials have been established to the Alzheimer's Association or the Knob Noster First Christian Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
