Mexican Campaign Medal of Honor Recipient. Served as a Boatswain's Mate Second Class in the United States Navy during the 1914 Vera Cruz, Mexico Campaign. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery on April 21, 1914. His citation reads “On board the U.S.S. Florida during the seizure of Vera Cruz, Mexico; for extraordinary heroism in the line of his profession”. His Medal was issued on June 15, 1914.
