FRANCES DAHL, 77, passed away on November 9, 2010. She was born to Douglas Angus and Irene Redmond McKay in Christchurch, New Zealand on January 10, 1933. Frances McKay and Forrest Atherton Dahl met in New Zealand and were later married in Manilla, Philippines where they remained until the birth of their daughter Aroha Elizabeth Dahl in 1964. They returned to the States and settled on the Forrest Dahl ranch. Frances quickly involved herself in the community soon developing a reputation for quick-witted humor and disarming charm. Once asked by her daughters' schoolmates to say something in "New Zealand," she responded with a mischievous smile and typically clipped speech merely with the word, "English," leaving a group of second grade girls to wonder just exactly what she meant by that --- realizing much later that English was the primary language spoken in New Zealand.

Frances was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bee County Farm Bureau (former board member), Bee County Junior Livestock and Homemaker Show, Republican Women, Pink Lady, Pettus Sacred Heart Catholic Church Altar Society, Pettus Independent School District Board of Trustees, and 4-H Organizational Leader. She retired from BPS Federal Credit Union.

She is survived by her daughter, Aroha Dahl of Galveston, Texas; a sister, Colleen Folkers of Christchurch, New Zealand; a stepdaughter, Dolores Brown and step-grandson, Michael Brown, both of Santa Barbara, California.

Visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010 at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Dahl Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bret Glover, Deric Rabe, Kody Kanak, Larry Stern, Jaime Rodriguez, John Hensley, Jacinto Aguirre, Robert Wingenter, and Charles Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers will be Bart Glover, Chad Strowmatt and Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pettus, TX; St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beeville, TX; Bee County Junior Livestock and Homemaker's Show.
