She was born on July 16, 1929, in Lenox Township. She was the only child of Thomas M. and Mildred A. (Evans) Tische. She lived in Ashtabula County for most of her life. After briefly working in an office, she married and became a full-time homemaker. Shortly thereafter she chose to become a mother to four children and later a grandmother and great-grandmother.
Marian was an excellent gardener, cook and baker. Much of the food she prepared was fresh from her own large gardens or served year-round from the various vegetables, fruits and berries that she had frozen, canned or pickled.
She was a long-time member of the Rock Creek United Methodist Church where Marian was active in both the children's programs and women's groups. She often played piano for the church and cooked for the Rotary Club held there. These activities were in addition to being a full partner on a working farm and supporting her four children in their activities and education. In the last several years, she especially enjoyed her cats and following her favorite sports teams.
She is survived by her four children, Joanne (Gary) Coriale of Mantua, Linda (Eddie) Starr of Tempe, AZ, Mary Ellen (Greg) Germinaro of Jefferson and Larry (Tracy) Brockway of Pittsburgh, PA; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Carol Brockway of Canal Winchester.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Lawrence Brockway; sister-in-law, Zelma Brockway; brother-in-law, Clifford Brockway; and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Riordan.
Services will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming-Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson with Rev. Scott Racut of the Rock Creek United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Rays Corners Cemetery, Lenox Township.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 12-2 PM prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Rock Creek Methodist Church, P. O. Box 185, Rock Creek, OH 44084. The Fleming & Billman Funeral Homes and staff are honored to serve the Marian Brockway family.
