GROVES — Luther L. Glover, 97, of Groves died November 9, 2010 at The Medical Center. He was born June 25, 1913 in Hayworth, Oklahoma and grew up in New Boston, Texas until his family moved to Cuthand, Texas when he was a teenager. After attending Paris Junior College and serving in the Army, he worked at the court house in Clarksville, Texas. He met the love of his life, Alma, while working at the Lone Star Defense Plant in Texarkana, Texas. In 1944 they moved to Port Arthur. After working 25 years at the Atlantic Richfield Refinery he retired as an instrument pipefitter. Luther continued his part-time work in air conditioning and refrigeration service, Glover's Tankerman Service and various other jobs.

He was the son of the late Robert and Ollie Glover, and was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Luther became a dedicated Witness of Jehovah and was baptized on November 11, 1950. He devoted over 40 years in the full-time ministerial work as a pioneer minister and elder with Jehovah ‘s Witnesses. He enjoyed assisting others in learning about Jehovah God, Christ Jesus and the Bible in Port Arthur and surrounding towns. Since the prisons opened, he volunteered teaching the Bible at the Larry Gist Prison and Mark Stiles Prison.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Alma Glover, of 67 years; two daughters, Marilyn Duhon and husband, Gerard of Houston, Janet Tate and husband, Gerald of Port Neches; four grandchildren, James Davis and wife, Melissia of Winnie, Jana Comeaux of Plaquemine, LA, Tasha Broussard and husband, A.J. of Bridge City, Layla Benoit and husband, Justin of Nederland; seven great-grandchildren, Emily Comeaux, Baylie Winzer, Drake Abshire, Edyn Miller, Gavin Broussard, Lillian Davis, Olivia Davis and another on the way.

Visitation will be held at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves on Friday, November 12, 2010 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 13 at 2:00pm. Burial will be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
