David "Dee" Beam, age 80, of Spruce Pine, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 at John S. Keever Solace Center in Asheville. Mr. Beam was born in Mitchell County on February 25, 1930 and was a son of the late Ruben Beam and Lillian Huskins Beam. Mr. Beam was a retired electrician and was also a U.S. Navy Veteran.
Saddened by the loss of Mr. Beam is his wife of 57 years, Beulah McClellan Beam of the home; brother, Ruben Beam, Jr. and wife Diane of Marion; two sisters: Lorene Staton and husband Ronald of Spruce Pine and Lois Ledford of Montrose, MI.
A funeral service will be held Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Spruce Pine, NC with Revs. Luther Carver and Darrin Waldroup officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the church. Interment will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Spruce Pine. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy.
