Mr. James Carlton Coker, 93, of Greenville, loving h u s b a n d of Laverne Coker, died November 11, 2010. Born in Ware Shoals, SC, he was a son of the late James Clarence and Flossie Hudson Coker.
Mr. Coker served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from Thermo Kinetics. He was a member of Cross Point Assembly of God. In addition to his wife, Laverne, he is survived by his daughter, Judy Dianne Melton (Donald); a stepdaughter, Sandra Fleming (Charles); seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Travis, Joy, and Mark Fleming; Linda Kay Morton, Barry Coker, and Robin Melton; nine great grandchildren, Torrie Brown, Chris Melton, Zoie and Kara Fleming, Stephanie Blanton, Timothy Morton, Jackie Miller, Johnathan Coker, and Kim Coker; two greatgreat grandchildren, Skyla Brown, and Ansley Blanton; and his sister, Ruth Lusk.
Carlton was predeceased by his son, Donnie Visitation will be Saturday, November 13, 2010 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2010, in the chapel of the funeral home, with burial following at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Belton, SC. Memorials may be made to Cross Point Assembly of God, 3315 Anderson Road, Greenville, SC 29611; or to Camp Spearhead, 4806 Old Spartanburg Road, Taylors, SC 29687.
