Nancy was born in Belleville, IL but moved to Lansing, MI where she attended Sexton High School and Grace United Methodist Church. She graduated in June, 1976, and attended Western Michigan University. She graduated with a B.A. in Distributive Education, and a Master's in Library and Information Sciences. She was an assistant professor library admisistarion and map and geography librarian at the University of Illonios in Champain from 1984-90.
She wrote on the history of Isle Royale National Park in Michigan, as well as articles concerning maps of the Holy Land and Brazil. She was an expert in the art of book repair, and worked in the preservation of the original Gettsburg Address.
Nancy met her husband Jim, in August, 1988. They married in 1990. They moved to Springfield, Il and lived there for 6 years. While there, she worked at the Il. State Historical Library doing cataloging and historical preservation.
Nancy passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Dec. 1, 1997. While she was in the hospital, one of her cats passed, so she was buried with her cat's creamated ashes.
Nancy had 5 cats, and later, 2 dogs. Like any good librarian, she was interested in a variety of subjects. She was an expert geneologist, a capable seanstress, a good artist and had a wonderful singing voice.
Nancy had many friends, and I, for one, love and miss her. I have no doubt that when God "crosses me over" Nancy will be there to greet me. I look forward to the day.
