LONG ILLNESS FATAL TO MRS. JEFFRIES
Chariton Woman Was Born 74 Years Ago In Glasgow, Scotland
Mrs. Thomas Jeffries died Wednesday night at her home, 232 North Sixth street. She was 74 years old.
Mrs. Jeffries death resulted from a paralytic stroke, which she suffered last July while visiting with relatives in Gore, Ohio.
The funeral service is to be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Beardsley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. F. W. Simpson of the Chariton Methodist church. Burial will be in the Chariton cemetery.
Mrs. Jeffries was for 13 years a resident of Chariton, coming here from Hiteman, Ia. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and at the age of six years came to the United States with her parents. She was married July 18, 1883, to Thomas Jeffries at Akron, Ohio.
Surviving Mrs. Jeffries are her husband, five children, two brothers and three sisters. The children are Mrs. Fred Norberg, Mrs. Bert Powell, and Gomer Jeffries, all of Chariton; Mrs. Will Lowery, of Ottumwa, Ia.; and E. A. Jeffries, of Denver, Colo. Her brothers are John Young, of Akron, Ohio, and James Young, of Pennsylvania; and the sisters are, Mrs. Emma Schaffer, of Atwater, Ohio, Mrs. Jeanette Osborn, of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Mary Hite, of Gore, Ohio.
