MR. S. S. COOK, FATHER OF PROMINENT LOCAL WOMAN, DIES AT HIS HOME NEAR SNOW CREEK.
Mr. S. S. Cook, an aged Veteran of Franklin County, died suddenly February 19th, in his 95th year, while enjoying an appetizing breakfast.
He finished his education at the University of Virginia, and with him were buried many heritages of the Old South.
He believed it beneath the dignity of A Virginia Gentleman to get more profit out of a business contract than was accorded the other party or parties; and lived up to his ideals to the end of his life.
He was buried near his boyhood home in Franklin County, beneath a profusion of flowers and a flag presented by the Mildred Lee Chapter U.D.C., which he followed valiantly from ‘61 to 65.
Funeral rites were conducted by the Masons, he having been a member of that organization for more than 70 years.
His living children are Mrs. J. P. Long of Charlotte, N.C.; Mrs. J. W. Booker of this place and Mrs. S. L. Cook of Scottsville, Va.
