Mary Elaine Allen, 78, of Little Rock died Friday, November 5, 2010. She was born on July 25, 1932 in Vinita, Oklahoma, a daughter of Cecil Wayne and Ruby Dee Asbury.

She was a graduate of Seminole High School where she played varsity tennis. She was the owner of women's clothing stores in Russellville and North Little Rock (Mason's and Just Me) She managed the gift shop at the Arkansas State Capital for several years. During that time, she worked with the artist on the outdoor Nativity Scene that is on view to the public each Christmas near the Capital Building. She also worked in the Arkansas State Senate during sessions. She liked to go antiquing to add to her many collections. Most importantly, she loved raising three wonderful sons.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Phyllis Rose.

She is survived by her husband, Donald V. Allen, the love of her life, to whom she was married on April 12, 1951 in Seminole, Oklahoma; her children, Larry Allen and his wife Pam of Dallas, Texas; Wes Allen and his wife Frances of Ft. Smith, Arkansas and their children, Jenna Allen Sherrod of Statesboro, Georgia and her husband Brandon and Wesley Allen of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Tom Allen and his wife Chris of Bentonville, Arkansas and their children, Matthew and Rachel Allen. She was affectionately known as Grand Mary to her grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy King and Billie Patterson, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas (501)224-8300.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 8, 2010, at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle, Arkansas.
