Nancy Burr (Hinton) Lang, 73 years, of rural Craig, NE, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, NE.

Nancy Hinton was born April 7, 1934, at Knoxville, Tennessee. She was the daughter of professor Samuel Hinton and Frances Ray. She was educated in Knoxville and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1956. She worked for several years in Cooperative Extension in western North Carolina and at Nashville, TN. It was in Nashville that she met her husband. They were married at Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville on December 26, 1959.

In early 1960 they sailed for Chile and lived at El Vergel, Angol for the next 14 years serving as agricultural missionaries and teachers of the United Methodist Church. In late 1974 they returned to the United States She earned a master's degree from UN-L. From 1984 to 2000 she was an extension educator in Walthill, Thurston County, specializing in children's gardening. While in extension she received several awards.

After retiring, she led a busy life attending classes, volunteering and traveling.

She was a member of the Fremont Optimist Club, the Family, Community and Education club of Alder Grove, master gardeners of Norfolk and Douglas County, and the Alder Grove United Methodist Church.
