Harold H. Hardaway Sr., 71, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Kankakee, Illinois, died Friday, October 29, 2010. There will be a Visitation only on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A. M. at House of Prayer Apostolic Church of God, followed by a private interment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. A Memorial service will be held at 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at House of Prayer Apostolic Church of God. Local arrangements are by Lax Mortuary, Kankakee, IL.

Harold H. Hardaway Sr. was born on November 25, 1938 in Kankakee, Illinois to Richard Sr. and Sarah Hardaway. He was the youngest of eight children.

He served in the United States Marine Corps.

Harold and Priscilla were united in Holy Matrimony on April 24, 1971 in Kankakee, Illinois, where they began their lives and had three beautiful children. He worked and retired from General Foods after 21 years of service then served his community as a police officer.

Harold had a sense of humor, enjoyed teaching Sunday school and loved working with children as a Foster Grandparent in Kankakee and in Fort Myers.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Priscilla Hardaway of Fort Myers, Florida; one son, Harold H. Hardaway Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Michele R. Hardaway-Cooper of Pasadena, California, Dawn M. and Keith McCray Sr. of Romeoville, Illinois and Raquel Barnes-Chester and Michael Chester of Fort Myers, Florida; five grandchildren, TraQuan Lamb, KeiShaun Hardaway, Keith McCray, Talisa Hardaway and Mia McCray; one brother, Richard Hardaway of Kankakee, Illinois; one sister, Rose Mary Nance of Georgia, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; three brothers, Leo Hardaway, Lee King and Aaron King; two sisters, Mary Powell and Francis Calbet; a granddaughter, Jhordan Kamille Hardaway; a sister in-law, Ola Mae Hardaway; his mother-in-law, Naomi Talley-Simmons and a brother in-law, Cornelius Talley Sr.
