LONGMEADOW- Of Longmeadow, a gentle lady died on January 19, 2002. Helen Sprague (Southworth) Atwood was a longtime resident of Longmeadow, Ma. Born in Springfield, Ma. she was the daughter of the late Edward and Virginia (Sprague) Southworth. She was graduate of the Macduffie School; attended Fairfax Hall in Fairfax,Va; and Bradford College, Bradford,MA. She was predeceased by her husband, Harlan Sydney Atwood. She leaves a son, Harlan S. Atwood of Middleton,CT; a daughter, Martha S. Chagnon; a son-in-law, D. John Chagnon; and a granddaughter, Johnna Atwood Chagon, all of East Longmeadow; and a daughter, Virginia S. Atwood of Lynn,Ma. She is survived by her three sisters, Ann (Frost) Oram of Upper St. Clair, Pa. and Virginia Warner of Deer Isle, ME; and several nieces and nephews. Her brother, Edward Southworth predeceased her.
