Richard Eugene Rouse, age 56, of Stafford, Va., passed away on Aug. 4, 2008, in Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge, Va., surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Richard was born on July 29, 1952, in Sayre, Pa., the son of the late William J. and Pauline Neuber Rouse of Dushore, Pa. Richard attended Saint Basil's School in Dushore until the school closed, and then he transferred to the Sullivan County High School in Laporte, Pa., where he graduated as a member of the class of 1970. He attended Williamsport Vocational School and when he graduated he became an electrician. Richard grew up on the family farm in Dushore and moved to Virginia in the 1970s. Richard worked for the Northern Virginia Community College as an electrician for 27 years. He also established and operated his own business as a certified electrician. Richard was a loving husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He loved sports, especially watching his son, Ricky, play baseball and softball. He was also an avid Redskins football fan. He married Patricia Anderson on July 28, 1989. Surviving are: his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Jennifer, age 18, and Stephanie, age 15; his son, Ricky, age 12; three sisters, Kathleen (Mark) Arpa of Vienna, Va., Rosemary (David) Meisner of Manila, Philippines, and twin sister Dolores (William) Inch of Vienna, Va.; one brother, James Rouse of Dushore; four sisters-in-law, Diana (Billy) Sprouse of Stafford, Eva Sue Anderson of Triangle, Va., Faith Lee Sprouse of Woodbridge and Shirley Rouse of Austin, Texas; seven brothers-in-law: Glenn (Teresa) Anderson of Triangle, James Anderson of Arlington, Va., Johnny Anderson of Alexandria, Va., Michael (Sandy) Anderson of Woodbridge, Richard Anderson of Colonial Beach, Va., Roy (Gay) Anderson of Kingston, Tenn., and William (Beaver) Anderson of Woodbridge; his aunts, Arlene Neuber of Wilmot, Pa., Betty (Dana) Horton of Athens, Pa., and Helen Keating of Elmira, N.Y.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, William J. Rouse, on Sept. 1, 2000; his mother, Pauline R. Rouse, on Dec. 29, 2006; and his brother, William R. Rouse, on July 13, 1996. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Mullins and Thompson Funeral Home, 186 Shelton Shop Road, in Stafford, Va. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Aug. 8 at St. William of York Catholic Church, 3130 Jefferson Davis Highway, Stafford, Va. 22554. Burial will follow in Abel Cemetery, Triangle.
