Funeral Rites Held for Joseph Rehling Jr.
Joseph Richard Rehling, son of the late Joseph Rehling Sr. and Mrs. M Rehling, now of Valley City, N.D., died at his farm home at Pine Island, Minnesota, on April 13, 1949 at the age of 33 years 5 months and 4 days.
He was born November 9, 1915 at Flora, N.D., and attended school at Flora and Josephine N.D. There he made his home until 1936, when he came to Pine Island.
On December 12, 1940 he was united in marriage at Fairbault, Minnesota,
to Ruth L. Yerka. To this union three children were born. One son, Richard, preceded him in death; also his father and one sister who died in infancy.
He was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the St. Paul Lutheran church of Pine Island by the Rev. H. Prieb.
He is survived by his widow, a daughter Nancy and a son Gary also his mother, Mrs. M Rehling, of Valley City N.D.;
five sisters and three brothers;
(Lila) Mrs. Louis Neil of Valley City N.D. (Ruby) Mrs. Arthur Djoseland, of Maddock N.D. (Melvina) Mrs. A.R. Reppert of Pine Island Minn., (Vivian) Mrs. Jack Wilson of Akeley Minn.,
Fred Rehling of Maddock N.D., Doran Rehling, Valley City N.D
(Dorothy) Mrs. Maurice Hakanson, Valley City N.D. and Donald Rehling of Valley City.
Also surviving are twelve nieces, four nephews, a grandfather, Wm Harrington, of Spokane, Wash; several aunts and uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist church, the Rev. Frank Harcey, pastor of the Mantorville Congregational church officiating. Interment was in the Pine Island cemetery.
Pallbearers were Leo Rehling, Merle Rehling, Ole Kittleson, Lester McCarty,
Walter Hakanson, and James Neer.
