After the death of first husband, Thomas Averitt, Melvina Oldham Averitt remarried in 1904 to William Switzer and by 1910 was widowed and living with her daughter, Josephine Sophronia [?] Hansel in Aberdeen, Grays Harbor, Washington. Melvina Switzer died there on 18 Jun 1922. She is buried in Fern Hill Cemetery in that county. Her death certificate incorrectly gives father's name as Cook which was name of her mother's second husband.

Melvina's Find a Grave Memorial in Aberdeen, Grays Harbor, WA is #42847302.

Biographical details:

Melivna Oldham was born in 1832 Missouri, probably in Pike County where parents, Richard Oldham and Julia Williams married in Oct 1831. In 1850 Lafayette Co, Wisconsin, Julia Oldham appears as head of household with children, Melvina, Sophronia, Mary, William and George Oldahm. It is likely Richard Oldham [son of Presley Oldham and Mary Wells] was deceased. His brother, Alexander Oldham, had married Lydia Williams in 1829 Pike Co, MO and possibly Lydia and Julia were sisters.

In 1858 Julia Williams Oldham married John P Cook.

Melvina Oldham married Thomas Averitt in Wisconsin in 1853 and he died 1892 and is buried in Delaware County, Iowa. Melvina then married William Switzer in 1904 and was in Washington by 1910.
