In Memory of Mr. S. M. Bassett.
The old Bassett homestead is shrouded in gloom, within its walls a voice is
hushed forever...angel of death, without warning, but quietly and
peacefully claimed the broken spirit of husband and father...and the
pulseless body now lies in majestic state beneath the shadows of the oaks
at Shiloa...Mr. Bassett had reached his 52nd anniversary when the death
summons came. He was one o the most successful farmers in Houston county,
and his fertile lands abound throughout this county. He was a man of
intellect and striking personality....He leaves one son and a widow, the
latter brokenhearted and inconsolable in her deep sorrow...
