Amytis S. Katterjohn, 96, formerly of Greenville, passed away Saturday, afternoon, Jan. 19, 2002,at the Laurels of Mount Pleasant. The daughter of Elbert and Susie Emma Walker Heifner, she was born March 26, 1905, in Jacksonville, Mo. On Dec. 22, 1928, in Englewood Colo.,she married the Rev. Elmer Katterjohn. Mrs Katterjohn was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Alma and a former member of First Baptist Church, Greenville, where her husband had served as pastor. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Gary Higgins of Elwell, two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Carol Katterjohn of Clio, Carl and Bonnie Katterjohn of Gowen, 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband , the Rev. Elmer Katterjohn on March 17, 1990, a son, Arthur Katterjohn, and a daughter-in-law, Betty Katterjohn. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church, Alma, with the Rev. Aaron Marshall officiating. Burial is in Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville. Envelopes for memorial contributions to the memorial fund at Trinity Baptist Church are available at the Brown-Teman Funeral Home, Greenville, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and on Wednesday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
