Last Rites Held For Emmett Nelson Friday Afternoon

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Emmett August Nelson at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Philip Biblehimer conducted the servcies.

Pallbearers were Henry Henningsen, Bill Berney, Marvin Christensen, Albert Kinney, Lyle Oakley and Frank Rother.

The Lutheran Jr. Choir sang "Abide With Me", "Beyond the Sunset" and "Old Rugged Cross" accompanied by Mrs. Agnes Thayer.

Interment was in the Hillside Cemetery.

Obituary - Emmett August Nelson, son of Henry and Maggie Nelson was born November 12, 1898 at Palmer, Nebraska and passed away early Monday morning, February 26 at the age of 52 years, 3 months and 14 days, at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island, where he had been taken the day before following a severe brain hemorrage.

He moved to Silver Creek, Nebraska with his parents when a young boy. He attended grade school there while living with his grandfather. Later he moved to Wolbach and farmed with his father.

At the age of 20 he joined the services at Grand Island, Nebraska. He was in the 117th Infantry 30th Division. He spent most of the time overseas in France. He was discharged the 10th of April 1919, at Camp Dodge, Iowa.

He was united in marriage, February 28, 1920 to Myrtle Sowers, of Wolbach. They made their home in Omaha, Nebraska. He was employed for 18 years at the Missouri Pacific Round House. Due to ill health, they moved to Wolbach, four years ago to a farm 4 miles north of town.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Al Wagner and Viora Nelson of Omaha; Mrs. Urban Cachelin of Edinburg, Texas, Mrs. Leonard Scheibe, Leona and Geraldine of Wolbach; four sons, Charles and Denton of Omaha, Venton of Coast Guard Cutter, Half Moon, Curtis Bay, Maryland and Loren of Wolbach; his mother, Mrs. Maggie Nelson of Omaha; one brother; three sisters; and six grandchildren and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Harley.

He was a very loving husband and a devoted father. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mrs. Joe Roger, Omaha; Ada, Fred and Harold Nelson, Kansas City; Mrs. Edgar Ruff, Mr. and Mrs. Don Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sohm and Miss Naomi Winn all of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Nelson of Howells.
