J S McQueen was called to Purdy Monday to preach the funeral of Mrs Lydia A Walker who had been a resident of Purdy for a number of years and who died at her home Saturday June 30. Lydia A Terrell was born at Bellfountain, Ohio, March 12, 1829. She was 88 years, 3 months and 18 days old. She came to this state with her parents when but a child and had lived here since. She was married in Jasper county at the age of eighteen to Rufus K Walker. She was the mother of nine children, six of whom are living. They are John of Hartville, Seigle of Seneca, Martha Sims of Springfield, Sarah Sooter of Butterfield, Catherine Vestal of Texas and Miss Juretta who lived with her mother. She was a member of the Christian church. Her body was laid to rest in the Purdy cemetery.
