Arthur M. Cornwell was born in Connersville, lnd, Dec. 29, 1830. In 1830 he came with his parents to New London, Iowa. He was united in marriage with Sarah Ann Shepherd in 1852. To this union ten children were born, five of whom are still living. He enlisted for a three years service in the United States Army in 1861, and served his country for over three years. He enlisted under the banner of King Jesus at the age of twenty, uniting with the Christian church. In 1863 he embraced the message of Christ's second coming and present truth, uniting with the Seventhday Adventist church of which he remained a faithful member until his death, which occurred at the home of a son in Chicago, at the ripe age of 82 years, 1 month and 22 days. His faith and confidence in the blessed hope never wavered. His life was that of a consistent, faithful Christian, in harmony with his profession. For many years Brother Cornwell was a member of the Mount Pleasant church. The funeral service was conducted by the writer, in the Christian church at New London, Feb. 21, 1913. Though the day was a very stormy one, yet there was a large assembly at the funeral. The pall bearers were all old soldiers. He sleeps, we believe, in Jesus, to come forth at the voice of the Saviour in the resurrection morning. A. R. OGDEN
