Jessie D. Beck Sr. age 77 of the Herbine Community near Rison, died, Friday, October 29, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born August 23, 1933 in Gladewater, Texas, a son of the late Jessie Samuel Beck and Mammie Pilgram Beck. Mr. Beck was a graduate of Gladewater High School. He retired from the United States Army. Mr. Beck served in the 11TH Armored Calvary Regiment and was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. He was also a retired Alaskan State Trooper and a member of Bethel Number Two Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Beck was also preceded in death by his wife, Duby Beck; brother, William Henry Beck; sister, Yvone Dixon.

Mr. Beck is survived by a son, Jessie D. Beck Jr, of Tok, Alaska; brothers, Edward Beck of Herbine, Homer D. Beck of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Louise Causey of Gladewater, Texas, Dorothy Arndt of Salt Lake City, Utah and Elizabeth Faye Hearn of Kilgore, Texas; granddaughter, Kayleen Beck.

Funeral services with full military honors are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Bethel Number Two Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Wade Peddy officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00p.m. Monday, November 1, 2010 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Memorials may be made to Bethel Number Two Missionary Baptist Church, c/o Mark Young, 720 Goggans Road, Rison, Arkansas 71665 or Prosperity Cemetery Association, c/o Shirley Stewart, 15610 Highway 35 South, Rison, Arkansas 71665.
