Walter Marvin Golden, 84, of Perry, Oklahoma, was the son of David F. and Wilma (Hanks) Golden.
He was born on May 8, 1926 in El Dorado, Kansas and died Wednesday, October 27, 2010.
He graduated from El Dorado High School.
Marvin served his country as a member of the United States Navy serving in World War II on the battleship USS Colorado in the Pacific.
On April 6, 1947, Marvin married Margaret Miller in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
He worked for Continental Emsco, an oilfield supply company in several locations in Kansas and Oklahoma and then Charles Machine Works.
After retirement, Marvin became a locksmith and ran Golden Lock and Key for over 26 years. He always looked forward to every day as a locksmith where he could meet and help people.
Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family, taking pictures, metal detecting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, working in his yard and helping his community.
He will always be remembered for his strong faith, craving to learn, enjoying life, loving his family, country and helping others.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2010 at the First Christian Church. Pastor Steve V. Smith will officiate.
Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Margaret Golden of Perry, Oklahoma; one son, Kim Golden and his wife, Sheryl, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; son-in-law, Rich Ferrell of Perry; grandchildren, Chris Simon and his wife, Teresa, and Mandi Justus and her husband, Seth, all of Perry, Rebecca McGee and her husband, J.R., and Michala Iverson and her husband, Mark, all of Boise, Idaho and five great-grandchildren, Jacob Simon, Connor Simon, Brycen Justus and Avery Justus, all of Perry and Madison McGee of Boise, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Ferrell, parents David and Wilma Golden, and brothers, Gilbert Golden and Keith Golden.
