Captain in Company I, 31st North Carolina Troops

Capt. Parker resided in Harnett County [NC] where he enlisted at age 25, October 30, 1861. Mustered in as Sergeant. Captured at Roanoke Island on February 8, 1862. Paroled at Elizabeth City on February 21, 1862. Returned to duty on or about September 15, 1862. Promoted to 1st Sergeant prior to February 11, 1863, and was promoted to Captain on June 7, 1863. Wounded at Fort Wagner, Charleston, South Carolina, July 18, 1863. Died on July 22, 1863, of wounds. Place of death not reported.

Appears in the list of casualties in the Charleston Daily Courier among those who were brought in from the fight on July 18, 1863. He was listed as "wounded, left lung, dangerous."

He is recorded as being buried in grave #236, Magnolia Cemetery.
