The former Hertha Buss was born on December 27, 1890 in Tomah the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Buss. On June 10, 1914 she was married to Ernest R. Middlestead in Merrill. He died on April 22, 1956.
A resident of Merrill since 1898, she was an employee of the Weinbrenner Shoe Company and the Hanson Glove Company prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ.
Survivors include Mrs. Robert "Eda" St. Clair of Merrill; a sister Mrs. Hilda Sievert of Merrill and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 14, 1975 at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ in Merrill. The Rev. Dale G. Kuck and the Rev. Jonathan Knecht officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park.
