COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Cecil Clennie Allen, 83, of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 5-9
p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Mr. Allen died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Putnam County to the late Henry P. and Eva Lou Rena Wilmoth Allen.

Mr. Allen was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church, American Legion, and a charter member of Upper Cumberland Beagle Club and the Horse Back Riders Club.

His family includes his wife, Bessie Allen of Cookeville; a daughter, Cecilia Ann Fraser of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Cathy Allen of Cookeville; two grandchildren, Tara and Brandi Allen of Cookeville; and five special friends, Lisa Oakley, Bud and Sue Cobble and Don and Barbara Slape, all of Cookeville.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil and Mitchell Allen; and five sisters, Novella Flatt, Clarcie Gaw, Rosa Lee Bailey, Pervis Pearson and Margie Phifer.

Pallbearers will be members of VFW.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carl, Charles, Randall and Roy McCormick and Jerry Phifer.

Bros. James Haynes and Bobby Davis will officiate the services.
