H.Vernon Humphreys joined his daughter, Shirley E. Block, in Heaven on October 12, 1995. Born November 12, 1916 in Corsicana, Texas, he leaves a wife of 56 years, Mearl Humphreys, chidren, Dorthea Hutchings (Bob), Vernon Humhreys(Shirley), all of Lancaster, Teri Eccles(Jack) of Quartz Hill and son-in-law, Bill Block of Lancaster, brothers, Samuel, Robert, Hubert and David Humphreys, 11 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by grandson Ronald Humphreys and John Block, parents Hubert and Lola, sisters, Dororthy and Mary, brothers Raymond and Clarence and nephew, Ralph.
A resident of Lancaster since 1935, Mr. Humphreys was a truck driver, delivering freight for 35 years beginning with Red Line and retiring from Roadway. More than a father, grandfather and friend, Vernon will be missed by all that knew him. We appreciate the moment he was with us, our hearts rejoice in his freedom. Services will be held 10 am Tueday, October 17, at Mumaw Funeral Home. Interment at Joshua Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2 to 5 pm Monday, October 16, 1995.
