Daughter of Antone Paulsen and Anna Shultz Paulsen. Married to "Frank" Francis Marion Ashley.


SYLVIA (Mrs. Frank) ASHLEY, 87, of Correctionville, Iowa passed away on May 3, 2001. Sylvia was the daughter of Anton and Anna Paulsen and was born in Bronson, Iowa on July 3, 1913. Burial was in Oak Hill Cememtery at Anthon, Iowa. Services were held Monday May 7.

On February 2,1935 she married Frank Ashley, son of Bert Baker and Austa Drake Ashley.They farmed northwest of Anthon for many years.

Survivors include her husband Frank, son Brian and wife Sheryl Ashley, and a daughter Sonia and her husband Paul Chasteen; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant daughter Janice Kay.


Sylvia M. Ashley, 87, of Correctionville died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rock Branch United Methodist Church, rural Correctionville, with the Rev. Kent Kastler officiating. Burial will be in Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., followed by an Eastern Star Service, at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Mre Ashley was born July 3, 1913, in Anthon, the daughter of Antone and Anna (Shultz Paulsen. She lived in Bronson, Iowa, and graduated from Bronson High School. She married Frank M. Ashley on Feb. 2, 1925, in Sioux City. They farmed west of Anthon until moving to Char-Mac Assisted Living in Lawton in 2000.

She was a member of Rock Branch United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women (formerly WSWC), a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Thonna Chapter 423 and Farm Bureau Women. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and volunteering at Goodwill Industries.

Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, Brian and Sheryl Ashley of Correctionville; a daughter and her husband, Sonia and Paul Chasteen of Appleton, Wisc; a sister, Anna Rienbold of Sioux City, seven grandchildren, Kami Farrington, Ken Ashley, Tony Ashley, Marci Sojka, Andrs Coleman, Shelly Anderson and Brandy Chasteen; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law,Shirley Reinking; and a brother-in-law, Eldon Ashley.

She was preceded in death by a sister, an infant daughter and an infant granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Dick Reimenschnieder, Steve Hathaway, Mick Ashley, Louis Reinking, George Ashley and Bill Ashley.
