Captain Leo Bell - Dublin Shore - Captain Leo Bell, 83, of Dublin Shore, died Wednesday in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Dublin Shore, he was a son of the late Charles and Margaret (McNally) Bell. At an early age, he went to sea on the merchant ships and fishing vessels and later became a master mariner. During the Second World War he served in the Merchant Navy and later continued his work, sailing on vessels in southern waters. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, and their service was held on Thursday evening in his honour in Wamback Memorial Chapel. Surviving are a son, Robert, Conquerall Bank; a brother, Ainslie, Cambridge, Me; a sister, Marguerite (Mrs.Sinclair Sperry), West Dublin; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Audrey Oxner; a daughter, Joan; four sisters and eight brothers. The body is at Wamback Memorial Chapel, Bridgewater. Funeral will be today at 2 pm, in Knox Presbyterian Church, Rev. James Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery, West Dublin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be nade to Knox Presbyterian Church, Dublin Shore, or any charity. (Hfx Chronicle Herald of Fri, May 19 1978, pg 32)
