Civil War Union Army Officer. The son of Daniel Webster, he served as Colonel and commander of the 12th Massachusetts Infantry. He was killed during the Second Battle of Manassas (Bull Run). Today a monument stands in his honor at Manassas and a regimental monument on Oak Hill at Gettysburg. The unit was forever called the "Webster Regiment" after his death.
