Jessie Hinton Baker, 77, died Saturday afternoon at Bulloch Memorial Hospital after a long illness. The Bulloch County native and lifelong resident was a retired farmer and a Baptist.
Survivors include four daughters, Elyse Roach, Ridgeland, S.C., Louise Miller, Stilson, and Nell McGalliard and Faye McGalliard, both of Statesboro; three sons, Jessie Eugene Baker and Alton Joel Baker, both of Brooklet, and William Slayton Baker, Pooler; one brother, Louis Baker, Brooklet; two stepsons, Willie Bowen, Brooklet, and Randy Littleton, Statesboro; two stepdaughters, Marie Thigpen and Kathy Lynn Simpson, both of Brooklet; 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Smith-Tillman Mortuary, with the Rev. J.C. Brown and Elder John Shelton Mikell officiating. Burial will be in Brooklet City Cemetery.
