Bildad was the 3rd of twelve children born to Peter Gibbons III and Sarah Greene.

His siblings: Elizabeth, Peter IV, Lemuel, Mary, Sarah, Timothy, Sarah, Eli, Jedediah Howe, Mary and Hannah.

Revolutionary War*
• Enlisted as a private, Capt. Wm Cannon's Co., Col David Leonard's Regt. marched to Ticonderoga 6 May 1777, returned 14 Jul 1777.
• Enlisted 21 Sep 1777 as a Private, Capt Aaron Coe's Co., Col. John Moseley's Regt. discharged 23 Oct 1777, company marched by order of Gen. Gates to reinforce Northern army on an alarm.

Bildad married Hannah Kent, daughter of Joseph Kent and Elizabeth Rising, in about 1780 probably in Granville, Massachusetts. The couple had 14 children: Bildad Jr (dy), Naoma, Joseph Kent, Clarissa Harlow, Benjamin, Salley, Orle, twins Alexander (dy) and Anna (dy), Norman, James Hamlin, Sylvester, Philomela (also Phylemely), Corintha and William Green.
