CHURCHVILLE-Mary Alice Weaver Blackwell, 70, of HCR 33, Churchville, died Saturday (Dec. 28, 1991) at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 7, 1921, in Staunton, a daughter of Claude Andrew and Ada Halterman Weaver.
She was a graduate of Beverley Manor High School and a member of Headwaters Presbyterian Church.
Before retirement, she had been employed at Western State Hospital for 19 years.
Surviving are five sons, Homer T. Blackwell Jr. of Waynesboro, Frank C. Blackwell and Edward L. Blackwell, both of Churchville, Fred W. Blackwell of Weyers Cave and Leonard Harris of Newburg, Mo.; one daughter, Bettie E. Smith of Churchville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a nephew.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bear Funeral Chapel, Churchville, by the Rev. Lester LaPrade with burial in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Richie Conner, Robert Elkins, Ray Myers, Dennis Clemmer, Doug Conner and Steven Breeden.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Hughes, Dr. John Todd, Dr. Melvin Keim, Larry Sundstrum, John Kincaid, Bernie Plotner, Hunter Crosby, Thomas Pitsenbarger, Thomas McCutchen, Robert Kirby and Gary Puffenbarger.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
