Edward Sabel, 68, of Mt. Calvary, died at his home at 11:45 a.m. Friday following a three months illness.

Mr. Sabel, a former Town of Marshfield (Fond du Lac County) farmer, had been employed by the Tolibia Cheese Co. near Fond du Lac since 1944. He had farmed for 29 years prior to that and was assessor of the Town of Marshfield for 18 years until 1956.

Born at Johnsburg, May 12, 1890, he was a son of Henry and the late Anna Schmitz Sabel. His wife is the former Elizabeth Schaefer, also of Mt. Calvary.

Mr. Sabel was a member of the Holy Name and St. Anthony societies of Holy Cross Catholic Parish, Mt. Calvary.

Surviving are his wife; his father, of St. Peter; a son, Leander, R.1, Fond du Lac; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence J. Schmitz and Mrs. Clarence H. Schmitz, both of Malone, and Mrs. Henry Bertram of Mt. Calvary, and 12 grandchildren. He also leaves four brothers, Serva, Gregor, Hugo and Roman, all of R.1, Malone, and four sisters, Mrs. William Kohlman, Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. Richard Stephany. Plymouth, and Mrs. Albert Diederichs and Mrs. Alois Abler, R.1, Malone.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Church following 9:30 family rites at the Lisowe Funeral Home. The Rev. Ephram Hertel, OFM, Cap., pastor, will be celebrant of the Requiem Mass with burial in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening and until the time of services Monday. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Honorary pallbearers were: Walter Schmitz, Joseph Schaub, Willard Atkinson, Edward Abler, William Thuermer, and Simon Birschbach.

Active pallbearers were Leander, Delber, and Alvin Sabel, Larry Schmitz, Francis Abler, and Melvin Diederich.

Members of the Holy Name and St. Anthony Societies are attending the services in body.
