The Rev. John Presley Hilburn (1858-1937), 79, brother of Col. S. J. Hilburn of this city and former pastor of the local Methodist church, died at his home in Tampa Saturday. Death took the former Palatka resident just one month after the passing of his wife Ella Peace Hilburn (1865-1937).
The deceased is survived by one son Oscar Peace Hilburn, Tampa attorney, and three grandsons, Jack, Dick and Sam, all iof Tampa.
Mr. Hilburn, born in Arkansas, was pastor of the Methodist church here for four years, many years ago. At the time of his death he was presiding elder of the Jacksonville and Tampa districts of his church. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd Monday, 9 Aug 1937.)
